DU PLayers is a student drama society Dublin that had been struggling along with a dated joomla-based website for a few years. They approached me when the site had become so broken that adding basic text updates was impossible.
The budget for this site was very limited – most of DU Players money goes on putting on performances – so this project needed to come in cheap. The trick was to make sure that it didn’t end up looking “nasty” in the process.
Working with the then head of Players, we whittled down a feature list and spread the build out so I could fit it around other projects and keep costs down. The end result is a functional site that does everything they need it to and that doesn’t look half bad in the process.
The volunteer members of DU Players have been maintaining the site since it was handed over ∼9 months ago.
