The Social & Political Review is a collection of contemporary academic writing from the fields of sociology and political science. It is split into several sections with an editor for each section.
As a design it needed to sit within the established norms for academic publications. This meant that the degree of creativity I could inject was quite restricted. However, restrictions can be a good thing for design.
Designing the Social and Political Review involved many hours pouring over Bringhurst, deciding on text block proportions and road testing understated text faces. For a font nerd, it was truly enjoyable. The end result was a well-balanced and sensitively type-set publication, that had real integrity.
